I Refuse to Quit Until My Life Resembles My Dreams ~ Being Willing to go the distance!
What’s up family and friends? I truly hope that you are getting your day off to a great start. Let’s just get right down to business here. One of the most common reasons for failure is that people simply give up and quit before reaching the finish line. They get some kind of idea of a specific timeline in their head and when things don’t happen within that timeframe they give up.
Look, if I would have given up because things were not happening based on my original timeline, you would be on someone else’s website reading their blog, and God knows we can’t have that now, can we? Just kidding.
When I started, I was a frightened teenager on a huge college campus with a dream but no sense of direction. I am living that dream because I refused to give up. It is that simple. Yes, I have some remarkable gifts, but so do you. I have spent time developing the necessary skills. But, honestly, it was my refusal to give up no matter what that has got me to this point.
Now, I would love to tell you that once you discover your purpose and become acquainted with your life’s vision that it is all smooth sailing from that point. Oh, how I wish this was true. I have taken so many detours along the way that you would not believe it, and plan on sharing many of them with you over the course of the next year. You will have to make some adjustments as you move along. You will be forced to recommit at times when everything inside of you wants to quit. You will ask yourself what you were thinking when you decided to make the commitment in the first place. I have definitely had to have some talks with myself along the way — sometimes in public. That can be embarrassing. Trying having someone ask you if you said something to them, and having to respond with, “no, I was talking to myself.” Well, I have done it on more than one occasion.
Look, I know that you are busy and that your time is valuable, so I am going to just get to the point. Winning in life is not about how smart you are — although learning is important. It is not about how much money, resources, and support that you have, while it is needed. At the end of the day, it is about the distance you are willing and prepared to go.
So, how far are you willing to go? That will determine how far you will get. If there is a point that you know in your mind will cause you to give up, trust me when I say that you will definitely reach it and you will quit. Make up in your mind that you will not quit until your life literally resembles your dreams.
